Welcome to EU Regional Digital Energy Summit ’25

Value of Digitalisation Beyond Imagination

Now in its fourth year, the EU Regional Digital Energy Summit is bringing together bold energy and digital leaders in Ljubljana (Grand Hotel Union) from 3–4 December 2025, to address the key opportunities & solutions shaping the energy sector in 2026 and beyond.

The greatest disruption in energy today is not just rising demand — it’s complexity. As AI, data centres, and renewables reshape how power is produced and consumed, utilities must move from infrastructure companies to digital platforms. McKinsey projects that those integrating AI, clean energy, and digital governance can boost EBITDA by up to 15%, turning disruption into opportunity.

Yet while technology accelerates exponentially, execution still moves linearly. Those who master reliable, measurable integration of AI and new technologies within complex energy systems will define the next generation of industry leaders.

The 2- day conference will focus on three strategic pillars shaping the digital transformation of Europe’s energy systems:

  • AI-ready grids – predictive maintenance, flexibility, and reliability metrics that CFOs understand (SAIDI, SAIFI, NPV).
  • Digital twins – physics-based and data-driven models for capacity planning, contingency testing, and faster grid connection.
  • Standardisation & security – European interoperability frameworks (ETIP SNET, WG9) and governance where AI serves the system, not the other way around.

Hot topics across the programme will span from  artificial intelligence, flexibility, smart grids, data analytics, machine learning, IoT, cybersecurity, smart metering, interoperability to, and sector coupling — all explored through these three strategic lenses.

Together, these focus areas lay the foundation for sector coupling — the seamless integration of power, heat, mobility, and industry that will define the next chapter of Europe’s digital energy transition.

NEW: Authorized and supervisory engineers, members of the The Slovenian Chamber of Engineers will earn 1 credit point from elective subjects in accordance with the General Regulation on Continuous Professional Training for authorized engineers for attending the EU Regional Digital Energy Summit ’25. After the event, you will receive the appropriate certificate. Please provide your ‘IZS number’ when registering.

My first impression of the conference is very positive: a great audience, interesting discussions, and excellent food.”

Dr Michael Schöpf, Venios

Mojca Černelč Koprivnikar, Prosperia

Digitalisation is currently one of the core topics. We have to share all the best practices and challenges we’re facing. What we discussed is quite interesting for all the stakeholders in the energy industry.

Yusuf Kaya, Siemens Energy

Prosperia govorec

I always say that people have to get together to talk about the right topics about the challenges we are facing in Europe. It’s also important for me to see the feedback that we as a society as well as a company are on the right track. This event gives us exactly that.

Luis Goncalves, Iskraemeco

Rok Lacko

All of us here are interested in making a change, in making digitalisation an important topic, which we have to talk about. Everything is well-organised and the venue is very nice.

Branislav Pilát, SEPS

Jan Kostevc

It’s a perfect event. If you invite me again, I’ll come next year for sure because now is the right time to talk about the digitalisation. It’s a topic on the European level.

Kalle Kukk, Elering

Prosperia govorec

It was interesting to see that all the countries are in a big race to digitalise everything, to put everything under digital control, and how much the digitalisation has changed electro distribution, production and delivery.

Senad Aruc, Gatewatcher

What I really liked about the event is that you had all these presentations and a small competition that made the whole thing a little more exciting to watch and to participate in.

Dr. Henrik Lund, Aalborg University

I liked the format and organization of this event, which is the best model I’ve seen so far. It is an interactive platform where we can share experiences and discuss how to move forward with innovation, especially in the field of electrification.

Dr. Lei Xianzhang, State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC)

Innovation of energy encourages dialogue between different sectors and industries – this is a precondition for innovation and the main reason why we sponsored this event.”

Anton Petric, director, Cisco Systems (USA)

Menim, da je to dobra konferenca predvsem zato, ker poskuša integrirati različne deležnike, ki delujejo v energetiki in gospodarstvu, poskuša jih pripeljati na eno mesto in jih spodbuditi, naj se pogovarjajo.

Dejan Savic, Greenpeace

I believe this event is a valuable initiative as it provides us with the opportunity to engage in discussions with professionals from the sector regarding energy trends, which is of utmost importance.

Alberto Pototschnig, ACER
